Camper PLUS+

Affordable and effective all-in-one packages for motorhomes, camper vans, and Ducato-based vans.

For many years, the Fiat Ducato has been one of the most important base vehicles for motorhomes and camper vans—and for good reason: The driving dynamics of this classic van have been impressive for decades. Nevertheless, in practice, the suspension comfort has shown significant weaknesses in some areas. Especially on uneven roads, over manhole covers, or on patched sections of the road, bumps and vibrations are often transmitted very directly into the interior, which can noticeably impair the travel experience. That’s exactly where our solution comes in. With the specially developed CamperPLUS suspension packages, we present a comprehensively tuned range that is specifically tailored to the well-known challenges of the Ducato (model year 2006 and later) as well as its structurally identical variants from Citroën, Peugeot, and Opel. The individual components—from the optimized front axle system to the intelligent rear axle suspension—enhance both ride comfort and driving safety. Furthermore, depending on the vehicle model and technical specifications, the CamperPLUS packages can also serve as the basis for a potential weight increase, thereby unlocking additional payload capacity. This benefits motorhome owners as well as drivers of commercial and specialty vehicles, for whom comfortable and stable handling is essential in daily use.

Our CamperPLUS packages are affordable and effective all-in-one solutions whose proven combination is particularly popular among motorhome and camper van owners. Every package includes our comfortable shock absorbers on the front axle, while on the rear axle you can choose between additional coil springs, air springs, or the RouteComfort system—a combination of a GRP leaf spring and auxiliary air suspension.

CamperPLUS – Perfectly tailored suspension solutions.

The CamperPLUS packages are based on a comprehensive concept for optimizing the suspension. The front and rear axles are specifically tuned to work together to noticeably improve ride comfort, driving stability, and adaptability. A standardized comfort solution is used on the front axle. For the rear axle, however, various system options are available, which are selected based on the vehicle type, weight, and usage profile. This allows the suspension to be optimally adapted to the specific requirements. Below is an overview of what’s included in our CamperPLUS Basic, Smart, and Comfort packages.

The CamperPLUS Smart and Comfort packages are available with either manually controlled auxiliary air suspension or our RHC® control system, which can be operated conveniently and intuitively via a smartphone app. The Comfort package features a combination of a GRP leaf spring and auxiliary air suspension on the rear axle—our proven RouteComfort system.

RouteComfort – Intelligent Front-Axle Optimization.

A key component of every CamperPLUS package is the RouteComfort front-axle optimization system—one of Goldschmitt’s most popular products, known for its comfortable and intelligent spring-damping characteristics. The built-in comfort struts feature automatic damping force adjustment that adapts in real time to changing road conditions. Flow and pressure conditions within the shock absorber control the system’s behavior, ensuring pleasantly soft damping during smooth driving while activating a stabilizing control mechanism during more pronounced body movements. Depending on the actual vehicle weight, different coil springs and shock absorbers are used. This tiered selection enables an optimally tailored combination for nearly every vehicle. This interplay of comfort and control thus ensures a significantly more relaxed driving experience, especially on longer trips or on varied road surfaces. The RouteComfort struts impressively demonstrate how Goldschmitt suspension products combine technical precision with practical added value, thereby noticeably and sustainably improving motorhomes, camper vans, as well as vans and commercial vehicles.

Custom rear-axle optimizations for maximum ride quality.

While the front axle is optimized in every CamperPLUS package using our RouteComfort shock absorbers—primarily improving comfort, steering precision, and driving stability—the focus on the rear axle is more on load-carrying capacity, vehicle level, and adaptability to different loading conditions. In motorhomes and campervans in particular, the rear suspension configuration has a significant impact on driving stability and comfort. The CamperPLUS rear-axle solutions address this specifically, providing targeted support for the standard suspension to ensure a stable ride height, better load distribution, and greater driving comfort. In addition, rear-axle optimization lays the technical foundation for a potential payload upgrade. The various CamperPLUS packages offer different approaches to this—ranging from robust auxiliary springs to flexibly adjustable air suspension systems with manual or automatic level control.

CamperPLUS Basic

The Basic Package is designed for users looking for a simple, effective solution to stabilize their vehicle. The additional coil springs installed on the rear axle relieve the load on the standard leaf springs and ensure smoother, more balanced handling. This robust, maintenance-free addition noticeably improves suspension performance—especially in overloaded vehicles or those with frequently changing loads—while ensuring a stable ride height that benefits both everyday driving and longer trips. Together with the comfort struts on the front axle, the Basic Package thus offers a reliable starting point for targeted suspension optimization.

CamperPLUS Smart

The Smart Package features flexible auxiliary air springs on the rear axle that ensure precise adjustment to weight and road conditions. The large 8-inch double-fold bellows can be filled with compressed air as needed and reliably compensate for uneven loads. Thanks to the dual-circuit system, both air bellows can be controlled independently of each other, resulting in a particularly balanced ride height. This package is particularly recommended for vehicles whose stock suspension is reaching its limits, as well as for users who prefer variable tuning. Additionally, two operating options—manual and automatic—are available, enabling simple and convenient operation.

CamperPLUS Comfort

The Comfort Package is designed for users who place particular value on a high-quality yet well-balanced suspension setup. Here, lightweight, high-load-capacity GRP leaf springs replace the standard steel leaf springs and are combined with a high-performance auxiliary air suspension. This system—known as RouteComfort—delivers exceptionally responsive, comfort-oriented suspension behavior while maintaining high stability. As with the Smart Package, a dual-circuit air suspension system with large-volume 8-inch air bellows is used, enabling fine-tuned adjustment. This makes the Comfort Package the most comprehensive solution when comfort, control, and ride quality are the top priorities.

Two options for controlling your auxiliary air suspension system.

With both the Smart and Comfort packages, you can choose between manual and automatic control. With the manual version (pictured left), operation is performed manually using a standard pressure gauge control panel. At the push of a button, air can be admitted into the air springs and released again via two separate relief valves, allowing you to individually adjust the vehicle to your desired height. Air pressure is monitored by two pressure gauges—one on each side of the vehicle.

Our RHC® system with automatic level control is available as an innovative alternative. It automatically maintains a constant ride height regardless of the load, automatically compensates for changes, or restores the rear axle to the preset height at the touch of a button. In addition, manual level adjustments—for example, to increase the approach angle—can be made at any time via the compact control panel or the free smartphone app (image on the right). For vehicles with sufficient suspension travel, a weighing function is also available as an option. The hardware of the RHC® air suspension systems also differs from the standard version. The current ride height is continuously monitored by two independent level sensors, which electronically measure the vehicle’s height and transmit the data to the integrated control unit. This unit automatically adjusts the system, ensuring a constant ride height. Automatic level adjustment prevents operator errors and reliably avoids potential interference with important driver assistance systems.

RHC – just drive off.

Enjoy comfort and precision on every journey with automatic control of your supplementary air suspension.
