Security is playing an increasingly important role in connected vehicle technology. For this reason, our HLC® Smart hydraulic leveling system now communicates via an encrypted Bluetooth connection. Data transmission between the smartphone app, the control unit, and the operating interface is thus significantly better protected against unauthorized access, meeting the current requirements of UNECE R155 regarding cybersecurity. For users, little changes in day-to-day operation; using the HLC® Smart remains as convenient and intuitive as ever. In the background, however, the new encryption ensures that communication between the individual components is secure. Especially at a time when vehicles are becoming increasingly digitally connected, this additional protection represents an important step toward greater data security and future-readiness.
When pairing a smartphone with the system, a PIN will now be required. This allows the devices to establish a protected connection and securely exchange essential connection information. In addition, it is now possible to delete stored connection data whenever necessary—for example, when selling the vehicle or transferring ownership.
The introduction of encryption is part of the ongoing development of the HLC® Smart. Our goal is to combine state-of-the-art security standards with maximum ease of use, offering our customers a future-proof solution for their motorhome or van. With this new Bluetooth encryption, the HLC® Smart provides an additional layer of security while consistently meeting the growing demands placed on modern vehicle technology.
