AirDriveControl – the brain of the full air suspension.

Anyone who remembers the early days of smartphones knows how complex technology used to be. It was only modern touchscreens that made operation truly simple and intuitive. The ADC® control unit (AirDriveControl) from Goldschmitt takes a similar step: it makes controlling a highly complex full air suspension as easy as using a smartphone. As the central element of the full air suspension, the ADC® control unit coordinates all regulation and control processes in the background. The user is guided intuitively through the system via the clear 3.5-inch touchscreen. Working in conjunction with the installed sensors, the software continuously captures all relevant vehicle states and processes them in real time. On this basis, it precisely controls the components of the air suspension – in particular the air supply and air bellows – ensuring an optimally tuned, reliable overall system.

Intelligently controlling vehicle height – automatically or manually.

The ADC® control unit combines automatic level regulation with versatile manual intervention options. While driving, the system automatically keeps the vehicle at a defined height regardless of the load condition. If the level sensors detect a deviation – for example after loading or attaching bicycles – the control unit adjusts the air pressure in the air bellows accordingly. Depending on the system configuration, this is done either only at the rear axle (2-channel system) or separately at the front and rear axles (4-channel system). In addition, a raised and a lowered driving level are available at the touch of a button. These can be used when stationary or at low speeds of up to approximately 30 km/h. If the vehicle exceeds the defined speed, the control unit automatically restores the regular driving level. The raised level increases ground clearance and makes it easier to drive up steep ramps or over rough terrain. The lowered level, on the other hand, makes loading and unloading easier, simplifies entry and exit, and even allows many VW Transporter-based vehicles to enter underground car parks. With 4-channel systems, Sport Mode can additionally be activated. This lowers the vehicle by a few centimetres, improving aerodynamics and optimising driving behaviour. Activation is standard manual, optionally also speed-dependent. If the vehicle remains below the reference speed for an extended period, the system automatically restores the normal driving level.

Auto-Level & Weighing Function – comfort and safety when stationary.

Maximum comfort is provided by the Auto-Level function (4-channel system only). This automatically levels the motorhome horizontally when stationary. An electronic spirit level detects the incline, and the control software levels the vehicle gently and with care for the bodywork – as far as the suspension travel allows. A particular highlight is the integrated weighing function. It determines the axle loads of the vehicle at any time at the touch of a button and displays them directly on the screen. This allows the system to detect overloads at an early stage – without any external scales. This means greater safety, reduced risk of fines, and a longer vehicle lifespan. In manual mode, all positions can be individually controlled and saved. This allows the rear axle to be raised specifically or the vehicle to be tilted to one side, for example to drain the waste water tank. Control is always carried out in pairs to move the chassis with as little torsion as possible. In the settings menu, configurations such as the zero position of the spirit level or the calibration of the bubble level can be made. An integrated event log records all activities of the air suspension system and can be read out for fault diagnosis. In addition, relevant system data can be viewed at any time, keeping maintenance and monitoring simple and convenient.

The touch control panel of the ADC® control unit was developed specifically for use in motorhomes and combines intuitive operation with high comfort. Numerous functions can be controlled quickly and easily with the touch of a finger. An overview of the complete range of functions of the ADC® control unit can be found below. For commercial vehicle manufacturers, a robust button module is alternatively available, providing access to the central functions such as driving level, lowered and raised level, and service mode.

Driving Level (2-channel / 4-channel system)

This mode is used for normal driving operation. The height sensors ensure a consistent driving level for any load.

Raised Level (2-channel / 4-channel system)

This allows driving over ramps or poor road surfaces, for example, without damaging the underbody or side skirts.

Lowered Level (2-channel / 4-channel system)

This function allows underground car parks to be entered at walking pace, or the vehicle to be conveniently loaded when stationary.

Sport Mode (4-channel system)

Manually or speed-dependently, the vehicle can be lowered while driving to improve aerodynamics.

Auto-Level (4-channel system)

Using an electronic spirit level, your vehicle can be automatically levelled horizontally when stationary.

Manual Operation (2-channel / 4-channel system)

The air suspension can be controlled manually. Manually controlled positions can be individually saved for later retrieval.

Free Memory Slots (2-channel / 4-channel system)

The M1 and M2 buttons (see image on the right) offer two freely definable memory slots in which individually approached vehicle positions can be stored for later retrieval.

Lower Rear (2-channel / 4-channel system)

The rear air springs are deflated and the vehicle rear is lowered. This makes loading the rear garage significantly easier.

Lower Side (4-channel system)

This function tilts the vehicle to one side and helps you, for example, when draining a water tank.

Weighing Function (2-channel / 4-channel system)

By evaluating the air pressure in the air bellows, the ADC® control unit determines the current axle loads of your vehicle and displays them with an accuracy of ± 5%.

Service Mode (2-channel / 4-channel system)

If you want to prevent automatic regulation of the air suspension, you can use this to deactivate your air suspension system.

Settings (2-channel / 4-channel system)

In this area, the event log can be read out, live data displayed, and various configurations of the control unit made.

Day/Night Mode (2-channel / 4-channel system)

This function allows the contrast of the display to be changed and adjusted to suit external conditions (day / night).

Languages (2-channel / 4-channel system)

The ADC® touch control panel offers a German and an English user interface. The languages can be selected in the settings menu.
