Chassis Technology at its finest – this is more than just the slogan of the Goldschmitt brand – it is, above all, a promise to our customers to deliver products and services that fully meet both our own standards and those of our customers in terms of performance and reliability. That is why the journey of all our components always begins in our in-house development department. Here, engineers, technicians and product designers work hand in hand to improve proven systems and components – or to set new, innovative ideas in motion. The enormous stresses that a chassis must withstand make extensive and time-consuming testing necessary. The daily routine of our test engineers therefore consists of brake tests, tests of steerability and chassis strength, as well as complex EMC and ESP tests. Once all these comprehensive tests have been passed, a development can lead to official approval and, where applicable, the granting of corresponding patents. Only then can series production begin, which is, of course, subject to continuous and stringent quality control.

Quality assurance thanks to our in-house test center.
Although modern technology now enables us to examine components for potential weak points using computer simulations, all Goldschmitt brand suspension and chassis components are tested in the truest sense of the phrase – to the point of breaking. On our in-house test track at the Höpfingen site, rough cobblestones, sine waves, washboard sections and large potholes demand everything from the vehicles. Under these extreme conditions, the stresses of an entire vehicle lifetime can be simulated and high-quality chassis technology tested for strength and stability. Two turning loops, one at each end of the rough-road section, can also be incorporated into the test programme. They are used to test the body roll tendency of motorhomes, vans and commercial vehicles. All these measures serve to ensure and continuously enhance the high quality standard of our products. In this way, we guarantee you the highest quality and innovative developments – Chassis Technology at its finest.
Since 2018, the Erwin Hymer Group Test Center has been located at the Goldschmitt site in Höpfingen. Here, motorhomes, camper vans and caravans are tested under realistic and extreme conditions – with the clear goal of ensuring the highest possible levels of safety, driving stability and long-term durability. The focus is on comprehensive driving dynamics and load tests on the specially designed rough-road track, which simulates an entire vehicle lifetime within the shortest possible time. In addition, individual components are extensively tested for function, load-bearing capacity and durability. Working closely with external partners and suppliers, materials and designs are continuously refined – for consistently proven standards in technology and safety.
Legally compliant development and homologation
At Goldschmitt, excellent chassis technology does not end when a product is ready for series production – it also includes the legally compliant documentation and approval of all products. Every development is accompanied by clearly defined processes, from the initial concept through to series approval. This includes detailed test reports and expert assessments that take into account all legal provisions and requirements for road traffic safety. Thanks to our certified quality management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015, we can carry out these processes efficiently, transparently and reliably. This results in homologation documents, payload upgrade assessments and registration documents that serve as the basis for TÜV inspections and ensure the safe use of our chassis on public roads. In this way, we combine innovative technology with legal compliance, allowing our customers to rely equally on performance, stability and legally compliant approval.
